Expedition 59 Flight Engineers Anne McClain and David Saint-Jacques of NASA and the Canadian Space Agency, respectively, are venturing outside the International Space Station to perform maintenance on the outpost in a 6.5-hour spacewalk.

The spacewalk is began at 11:31 UTC April 8, 2019.

Some of the activities performed during the spacewalk included running cables and relocating a battery adapter plate to facilitate the replacement of a failed lithium-ion battery with two old nickel-hydrogen units. A replacement lithium-ion unit is expected to be orbited by a future cargo ship.
