HTV-X1 departure (NET)

After several months at the International Space Station, Japan’s HTV-X1 cargo ship will be unberthed from the outpost with trash and unneeded equipment.

After a post-ISS mission lasting a month or two, HTV-X1 will eventually be commanded to perform a deorbit burn to reenter and break apart in Earth’s atmosphere over a remote area of the Pacific Ocean.

HTV-X is a successor cargo ship to the Japanese HTV spacecraft, which launched nine times between 2009 and 2020.
