Progress MS-17 departure

After being in space since June 2021, Progress MS-17 is set to autonomously depart the outpost to perform a destructive reentry over the Pacific Ocean.

Progress MS-17 originally docked with the space-facing Poisk module. However, following the arrival of the Nauka module, the cargo spacecraft undocked from Poisk and redocked with Nauka a day later.

This redocking took place on Oct. 21. When it undocks from Nauka in late November, it’ll take with it a special adapter port on Nauka to allow a node module called Prichal to dock with a wider hybrid port.

Progress MS-17 will only undock after Prichal successfully reaches orbit. Undocking is expected on Nov. 24, 2021.
