Long-delayed Nauka science module finally reaches ISS

The Russian Multipurpose Laboratory Module Nauka, delayed by nearly 15 years, has finally docked with the International Space Station.

Docking took place at 13:29 UTC July 29, 2021, at the space-facing port of the Zvezda module. This came some eight days after launching atop a Proton-M rocket on July 21 from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

As soon as late 2019, another airlock is expected to be delivered to the International Space Station, but it won’t be used for astronauts or cosmonauts. You can now visit the ISS via Google Street View

You can now visit the ISS via Google Street View

Google Street View has partnered with NASA to allow the map services's users to explore the International Space Station on their computers. While virtually flying through each of the station's 16 modules, users can click on particular points of interest to learn about each one.

This was done primarly by European Space Agency astronaut Thomas Pesquet, who returned from the orbiting outpost June 2, 2017.

Video: 4K ISS fly-through

In late October, NASA published a fly-through video of the International Space Station in ultrahigh-definition. It was filmed by one of the crew members during the scheduled sleep period in order to see a unique view of the outpost: night-time on the ISS.

The video was produced by Harmonic exclusively for NASA TV. Starting with the cupola window, the video flies throughout most of the outpost.

With the installation of a high definition camera during the U.S. spacewalk earlier this month, the exterior of the International Space Station can now show images and video in high resolution. 

That includes the docking or berthing of visiting vehicles such as Progress, Soyuz, HTV, Cygnus or Dragon. But it can also mean really neat, clear pictures of the structure of the orbiting outpost
